Pueblo West is a covenant-controlled planned housing development. The arid, rising land northwest of Pueblo proper offers views of Pikes Peak to the north and the Spanish Peaks to the south. This growing community, situated off U.S. 50, offers a surprising amount of conveniences for visitors. Pueblo West is bisected by east-west U.S. highway 50- and its eastern border is touched by north-south Interstate Highway 25, which is the major route to Colorado Springs and Denver. The hub of the community is located at McCullouch and Joe Martinez Boulevards, where a civic center area houses a few restaurants. In addition, there are about a dozen lodging facilities ranging from hotels to B&Bs in the greater Pueblo area. Downtown Pueblo, just eight miles east, offers a diverse mix of eateries, a restored historic district, a newly completed Riverwalk area, and shopping districts.

With annexations, Pueblo West contains about 26,000 acres of contiguous lands. The community is also situated just north of the Pueblo State Park, which is a part of the Fryingpan-Arkansas Water Project. The dam was constructed in 1975 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. The lake is used for boating, swimming, sailing, and fishing. Maintained campsites are also available, in addition to miles of hiking and biking trails, including a local greenway that runs all the way to downtown Pueblo. Pueblo West also has a wide variety of outdoor activities. Approximately, 4600 acres have been reserved for neighborhood parks, playgrounds, and an open greenbelt area. A heated swimming pool, ball fields, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, a paved basketball court, a sand volleyball court, playground, lighted tennis courts, picnic pavilion with stage, and barbeque facilities.
